DENVER, Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A major academic center has chosen LungDirect (Eon) over several competitors to manage their pulmonary nodule patients. LungDirect, the only software system designed to manage incidentally found nodules, will be utilized to evaluate the most effective treatment algorithm for patients with incidentally found nodules.  LungDirect will automate methods for identification, notification, and registration into the LungDirect dashboard, and is expected to register 5,000 patients over 20 months. Currently, lung cancer is the leading cause of all cancer death, claiming more lives each year than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined.  Often times a pulmonary nodule, referred to as a spot on the lung, is identified on a CT scan for an order unrelated to the lungs. LungDirect alerts providers, both internally and externally, when a nodule patient is detected, and works to ensure patients receive the appropriate follow-up care.
